NENG CPU Mining is like a bounty, 20,000
« on: December 22, 2018, 06:16:36 pm »
Just put to a note here for Marinecoin friends.

NewEnglandcoin is CPU minable coin.  This is not airdrop or bounty. But essentially similar currently.

Follow Marinecoin Forum on NENG  or Bitcointalk Ann.  Essentially you can manually watch the NENG blockchain movements,  then  fire up window or linux wallet,
type a few words and wait for several minutes to mine 20,000 NENG each time.

By end of 2018,  an automation tool called "Cheetah" will be released.  Cheetah is automation tool so that you do not have to type words to mine NENG each time. However,
once Cheetah is released to public, I suspect a lots of CPU Miners will join NENG and it will be a lot harder to mine NENG.  Right now any decent PC  2 core or above
should be able to mine NENG manually.

Currently I am running an alpha version of Cheetah on old 2 core Linux PC. It takes 10 to 20 minutes to mine a NENG block.  If you PC is faster than mine 2 core CPU, you can mine NENG now like a  bounty work, 20,000 NENG each time.

NewEnglandcoin is decentralized coin so that there is no boss there.

However, I created NENG and I am the dev now on NENG.  In that sense, yes to your question.  :)

Ok cool. We can work both ways towards it :)

I support your coin and started to mine hehe

(can i say somehow you forked a coin (bitcoin /litecoin) to create this coin?)

I forked Litecoin source code to create NENG.  NENG dynamic hashing algorithm was inspired by  Bruce's Marinecoin idea of dynamic hashing algorithm.  The difference is that,
no sensible miners would mine MTC because reward is only 1 MTC per block.   NENG actually is minable coin by both ASIC and CPU miners.   Dynamic hashing algorithm
current version and future version will only restrict ASIC miners,  I do not plan to eliminate ASIC miners.  PC CPU miner can mine NENG now because of this ASIC restriction.

OK, here was my observation NENG blockchain movement over past 1 month.  In a normal stable blockchain movement mainly mined by ASIC pool miners,  NENG ASIC pool miners would get stuck on blockchain  one in 20 blocks.  This is roughly 5% of blocks.  Once the ASIC miners got stuck finding no blocks,  the situation could get very bad,  up to 5 hours finding no blocks.  Actually, at current moment,  it is unpredictable, sometime stuck for 30 minutes, sometimes  1 hours, the longest was 5 hours,  many cases.  The sole reason that ASIC miners got stuck was because of dynamic algorithm NENG implemented.  ASIC pool miners or solo miners either way does not matter will all stuck at some point because they have assumption that difficulty does not change. That is programmed in their mining software.  On NENG case, difficulty does change after 2 minutes of no block.  After 2 minutes, CPU Miners with wallet on a full node can jump on the mining and mine block.

ASIC miners in and out NENG frequently, last couple of days some big miners left so that ASIC miners now probably stuck 1 every 3 blocks.

In a sense,  NENG blockchain would be fine if all ASIC miners are left now. However, CPU miners now are always required because NENG blockchain require CPU miners to smooth out the movement and unlock the blockchain stuck situation.

Thanks for the explaination. Lets say I had found 1 block already and now it has been 1.5 hrs and no block. Difficulty seems the same. Is there some issue or is it normal?

The difficulty has two numbers,  a very low number, almost zero after two minutes, or a high number ASIC miners see, now at 30.   Difficulty is not a fixed number.  ASIC miners do not know this or can not handle this.  PC CPU miners are running full node, a full node is blockchain itself, knows exactly the difficulty of every block.

This is unlikely to happen now for 1.5 hours with no blocks.  I have already coded an alpha version of cheetah, and I am running cheetah in my old linux box (10 years old, 2 core Intel PC).
cheetah will start CPU mining when there is no blocks in 2 minutes.  My PC will find a block  may be 10 to 20 minutes.

I am running my old linux box 24 hours a day.   ;D

Hmm but its really happening for me. now is like 1hr 40 mins no blocks found on my end since last block

had restart my core wallet to try again

Check the blockchain time stamp.  I think ASIC are doing fine now.

Also check the timestamp and performance of ASIC mining pool, I think this is main NENG ASIC pool:
https://hashnice.pw/

Your CPU mining is competing with other CPU miners and ASIC miners, win rate varies.

I checked ASIC Pool miners record, over past 10 blocks, ASIC got only 4 blocks,  or only at 40% of reward.  The rest 60% reward  went to CPU miners.

Hi mate,

Thanks. Am using i7 cpu to mine. Will monitor it.

Btw to derive how many blocks ASIC miners did, have to check their pool to compare right?

Correct.  There is another pool of ASIC, but they only got two blocks per day and my ASIC USB stick was the only miner there.  You only need to check the main ASIC pool to guess what ASIC are getting on NENG.
